ASSYCE GROUP Participates in the Renewable Energy Dialogue in Jordan and Received a Trophy from HRH Prince Asem Ben Nayef JERS president..
Perusing its regional expansion plans in MEA region, ASSYCE Group has participated in the renewable Energy Dialogue held by the Jordan Renewable Energy Society (JRES) in Amman this February 8th and 9th. In the event, officials, private sector representatives and energy experts gathered to debate the future of renewable energy in the Kingdom. The event came to discuss the benefits and prospects of the Renewable Energy Law, which was passed as temporary legislation earlier this month.
Jordanian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Khalid Irani underlined the benefits of the new law, which aims to facilitate investment in the sector.
“The law is the first step to push forward renewable energy projects,” he said, underlining plans to produce 600 megawatts (MW) of solar energy and 600MW of wind energy within the next decade.
Minister of Environment Hazem Malhas called on the private sector to play a greater role in utilising renewable energy technology in Jordan.
“We must ask ourselves, can we develop an industry to support renewable energy?”
ASSYCE Regional Director Ahmed Sari confirmed the right step the new law made toward the Kingdom’s energy national goal.

The newly approved law aims to help the government reach the goals of the National Energy Strategy, which calls for 7 per cent of the Kingdom’s energy mix to come from renewable energy sources by 2015, and 10 per cent by 2020.
Under the law, the National Electric Power Company NEPCO will be obligated to purchase any and all electricity produced by renewable energy power plants and cover the cost of connecting renewable energy projects to the national grid.
ASSYCE group participation in the event came as a normal escalation for the close relation between the Group and JERS in the field of renewable energy. This was crowned by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Group and JERS to frame in their collaboration in the commercial and noncommercial levels; i.e. knowhow transfer and expertise exchange. The MoU was signed by JERS Managing Director Mr. Mohammed Ta’ani and ASSYCE Regional Director Mr. Ahmed Sari.
As part of the agenda, the audiences attended a seminar introduced by ASSYCE’s regional director through which Mr. Sari briefed about the Spanish experience in energy related policies and legislations e.g. Feed-in Tariff Policy that considered one the first mature laws and the most successful model worldwide.
At the closing session, ASSYCE Group had the honor to receive JERS trophy from HRH Prince Asem Ben Nayef JERS president.
On the sidelines of the event, ASSYCE representative has met various companies and investors and negotiated new business opportunities in Jordan that will be revealed accordingly.
